INDIA :  FDCI announces winners of ‘EYE ON FASHION’ contest.

NEW DELHI : The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) announced the winners of ‘EYE ON FASHION’, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Fashion Photography Competition 2006 here on April 09.

Aimed at showcasing new artistic talent as part of the ‘New Faces Going Places’ initiative during Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week from April 5-9, 2006, this competition is another ‘first’, which has further enhanced and added value to India’s biggest fashion & lifestyle platform.

The competition was run across two categories ‘Most Outrageous Outlandish Fashion’ and ‘Street Fashion’.

Aditya Raut, a professional photographer, was adjudged the winner in the ‘Most Outrageous Outlandish Fashion’ category for his entry titled ‘Tandav’.

A joint entry from Ajit Mishra, Amitya Ranjan Soni and Raj Sekaran RS, from NID, won the ‘Street Fashion’ category for ‘The Sound of the Light’.

The winning sets of photographs have been on display at The Grand, New Delhi during the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2006 from April 5 – 9, 2006 .

Announcing the winners today, Rathi Vinay Jha, Director General, FDCI, said, “The purpose of this fashion photography competition is to fulfill one of the main aims of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week – which is to promote new talent. We received a very positive response from many talented photographers, including professionals as well as students of institutions like NID, NIFT and the Pearl Academy of Fashion, as well as professional photographers. We are happy to felicitate our winners during the closing ceremony of India ’s biggest B2B fashion trade event.”

The photographs were judged by a jury panel consisting of ace lensman Hemant Khandelwaal, Radhika Singh, Director Fotomedia Pvt Ltd. and designer David Abraham.
